Michael DeBakey Dies At 99 From Natural Causes

The heart surgeon responsible for developing the heart bypass, as well as numerous medical instruments has died at the age of 99.

Michael DeBakey, died on Friday in a Houston hospital with friends and family by his side.

His death, according to hospital officials was from natural causes.

His amazing medical career spanned 7 decades, that saw him develop numerous top of the line cutting edge surgical procedures, includeing one that was performed on himself back in 2006.

“He has improved the human condition and touched the lives of generations to come,” said Ron Girotto, president of the Methodist Hospital system.

DeBakey worked well into his 90′s, and throughout his lengthy career, trained thousands of surgeons.

He was the recipient of the Congressional Gold Medal in April 2008 for his lifetime achievements in medicine.
