Fast food restaurants in the city of New York have begun posting calory counts on their menu boards.
Many restaurants have been arguing against the rule that was recently passed, requiring restaurants to publically display their calory counts.
The hope is that if consumers see the amount of calories that they are consuming, then they will avert to a more healthy option.
The rule is just the latest to be past to try to reduce the rate of obesity in the city.
Recently NYC banned the use of trans fats, another health hazard that so many of us love to ingest.
The rule was passed in May, but legal hurdles made it tough to enforce until now.
As of yesterday, restaurant chains who qualify for the rule and do not comply will receive heavy fines.
Of course restaurant owners are not happy with the calory count rule, due to the fact that it may mean fewer customers.
