Chinese astronauts have returned home after a groundbreaking mission in which they took part in the country’s first space walk.
In total, 3 astronauts were honored in the city of Beijing, met by thousands of supportive people wanting to congratulate them on their successful mission.
They landed their Shenzhou craft on Sunday after a 68 hour mission into space, to showcase how far the space program has come.
There were many Chinese flags being waved in the air as the 3 men were driven through the streets of the city at the Beijing Aerospace Center where they had received their training.
Premier Wen Jiabao has called the 3 astronauts heros to their country, as they have made China 1 of only 3 nations to ever space walk.
“The complete success of the manned Shenzhou VII is a great stride forward for China’s space technology,” he said.
