
It is being reported that Wal-Mart have pulled a brand of eggs from stores in China after tests showed trace levels of melamine.
In a statement released by the company who produces the eggs, they appologized for the fact that there was trace levels of the dangerous chemical in their eggs.
“There are no consumers asking about protein levels in our eggs and so there is no need for us to add melamine to our eggs in the process of selling our products,” Han said in the report. “We truly regret this. We too have an undeniable responsibility.”
Wal-Mart pulled the eggs off all of their China store shelves, and will keep the brand off their shelves until the melamine situation has been delbt with.
Melamine is a type of chemical used in the creation of plastic, and has been linked to 4 deaths and thousands of illnesses in China due to tainted milk.
“We just want to make sure the products on our shelves are safe. We will work closely with suppliers and the government and other related organizations to make further steps,” said Mu Mingming, a spokeswoman for Wal-Mart.
