New research suggests that when breast cancer patients experience hot flushes and night sweats it means that their cancer drugs are working.

Results of the study published in the Lancet Oncology found that women taking breast cancer drugs and who experienced painful joints, night sweats or hot flushes were 10% less likely to be diagnosed with a recurrent tumour.

For their study the researchers analyzed medical data pertaining to 4000 breast cancer patients.

Tamoxifen and anastrozole were the two breast cancer drugs that were being taken by the study participants.

Following 3 months of use, 37% of women taking these drugs were more likely to be cancer free than were women not taking the drugs.
