Cases of diabetes are at an all time high according to the results of a new study released by the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention.

The study found that 90% of diabetes cases in America are of the type 2 variety, a fact which researchers indicate is a direct result of the large amount of overweight and obese people living in the country.

In the report, the state rate of diabetes was also made available, with southern states found to be home to more cases of the disease than other states.

Overall, the leading state when it comes to diabetes cases is West Virginia, with approximately 13 in 1000 residents living with it.

According to the CDC by identifying which states are home to more diabetes patients, anti-diabetes campaigns can be specifically targeted at them.
