A 32 year old man is the country of Indonesia’s 101 human victim of the dreaded Bird flu virus.
The man came from Tangerang west of Jakarta, and according to Toto Haryanto from the ministry’s bird flu centre he died on Tuesday at Jakarta’s Persahabatan hospital.
“It’s a big mystery that has yet to be solved,” said Zulkarnain Hassan from the agricultural ministry’s bird flu control unit tasked with investigating the source of infection.
It was originally thought that doves were the source of the man’s infection, but other birds in his village tested negative for the virus so officials have ruled that option out.
This is the third death in the last week in Indonesia from the Bird flu virus, and the sixth death this month.
According to Emil Agustiono, a top national bird flu committee official, the increase in cases being reported in the country is related to bad sanitation and poor weather.
