It is being reported that an outbreak of the dreaded Bird flu virus has been reported on a poultry farm in Pakistan.
The farm is located on the outskirts of Karachi, but according to officials it is unlikely that any humans have contracted the virus.
Pakistan reported their first human case of the virus late last year, and since then have reported a number of poultry outbreaks.
Officials have stated that the outbreak reported on the poultry farm has killed more than 5 thousand chickens so far.
“Laboratory tests have confirmed the presence of the virus in a poultry farm in Karachi, and we are now monitoring the workers on the farm as well as another one adjacent to it,” said an official of the Sindh provincial government.
“But there are no signs of any human infection,” the official added.
“There is no panic. The poultry farm where the virus has been found did not follow precautions and so faced trouble,” he said.
