It is being reported that the musical created by rocker musician John Mellencamp and horror author Stephen King is set to open in 2009 at Atlanta’s Alliance Theatre.
“Ghost Brothers of Darkland County,” is the name of the musical, with Mellencamp composing the music, and King writing the script.
The plott is based in rural Mississippi and is based around 2 brothers who absolutely hate each other. There father takes them up to a cabin that they used to vacation at when they were younger.
“What has happened is that the father had two older brothers who hated each other and killed each other in that cabin,” Mellencamp said. “There’s a confederacy of ghosts who also live in this house. The older (dead) brothers are there, and they speak to the audience, and they sing to the audience.”
The musical is directed by Peter Askin, and if things go well it could be scheduled for broadway.
