Police in New York City are asking for help from the public after a little baby girl was left abandoned in a NYC taxi cab.
The little girl is in excellent health, and at a news conference held yesterday afternoon, officials appealed to the public for help identifying both the girl, and her parents.
According to Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly, the response so far to the plea for help is “both troubling and surprising.”
Klever Sailema, was driving the car that the baby was left in, and acting quickly drove her to the nearest firehouse.
“Considering today’s bitter cold, we couldn’t be more thrilled that this baby was brought to a safe haven by Mr. Sailema. Thanks to him, the baby received quick medical attention,” said Taxi and Limousine Commissioner Matthew W. Daus, adding that Sailema would be honored at the TLC’s annual driver recognition ceremony in late March.
The baby is believed to be about 6 months old, and was left in the back of the cab by a male passenger who said he needed to use the phone.
