It is being reported that a bomb blast in Pakistan aimed at police have left more than 40 people dead.
A suicide bomber blew himself up at a funeral for a fallen police officer, and killed more than 40 people who were praying for the fallen officer.
“The blast occurred after people had offered prayers and pall bearers were carrying the coffin for a police salute,” said Deputy Superintendent Karamat Shah. He was among more than 500 mourners at the funeral for a senior colleague in Swat district.
Mohammad Khan, the senior doctor at the hospital in Saidu Sharif in Swat, stated that they have received the majority of the bodies, and are also treating many people for injuries sustained from the explosion.
Earlier in the day, 2 more police officers were killed by a rode side bomb blast: “The device targeted the police van, killing three people and critically wounding two,” said Hamza Mehsud, chief of police in Bannu district.
