It is being reported that actor Mel Gibson is set to star in his first movie since late 2002.
He will be playing the role of a corruption fighting policeman in a new movie entitled The Edge of Darkness.
Despite not acting in more than 5 years, he has kept his hand involved in the movie business, recently directing the controversial Passion Of The Christ movie in 2004 and Apocalypto in 2006.
The new movie is based on a 1985 BBC series but will be based in Boston.
Gibson reportedly has been a long time fan of the mini series, and was delighted to get onboard when approached by producer Graham King and director Martin Campbell.
Gibson, 52 has also been in the news thanks to a drunk driving incident in which he yelled at police officers that Jews were “responsible for all the wars in the world.” He has since apologized for those remarks.
