Results of a new US study published in the journal Archives of Internal Medicine prove that it is very possible to be fat and fit at the same time.
People who are overweight or obese, tend to have health conditions such as high blood pressure and even high levels of bad cholesterol. The study found that even thin people can suffer from these health conditions, and overweight or obese people may actually be healthy in this regard.
So if a person is thin, why would they be unhealthy? This is because these people may look thin on the outside, but on the inside they may have a lot of fat surrounding their internal organs.
The study found that up to 51% of overweight people had normal readings of blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar levels, while 20% of obese people were considered to be healthy.
Surprisingly, 1 quarter of people considered to be in a healthy weight range, were found to be unhealthy when it came to normal blood pressure and other health related medical readings.
“We really don’t know as much about obesity as we think we do,” said Judith Wylie-Rosett of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York,.
