Nasa has inked a three year deal with Russia which will allow them to purchase transportation from them to and from the International Space Station on their Soyuz space ships.
The deal had to be made due to the US retiring their space ships in 2010, meaning that they would have no other way of getting from earth into space.
If a deal could not have been reached, America would have to leave the International Space Station, just as it is finally finished and readied for fulltime science work.
Law makers had previously insisted that Americans would not pay tax money to be used for their astronauts to use Russia’s Soyuz crafts for space trips, but a compromise was reached and passed by the House.
America is supposed to have new space vehicles ready for use by the year 2015.
Nasa is also responsible for the international space transportation of Canada, Europe and Japan, something that will be kinda tricky if they are forced to rely on Russia.
