Hollywood (ChatterShmatter) – James Bond owned the box office once again as the latest Bond film, Quantum of Solace took in an impressive $70.4 million.
Quantum of Solace is a direct sequel to the 2006 hit Casino Royale, and is the second James Bond film to star Daniel Craig in the leading role.
The release of Quatum of Solace blew away Casino Royale though, beating it by nearly $30 million.
This is the best opening-weekend ever for a Bond film, beating out Die Another Day which opened by taking in $45 million in 2002.
Overall, 9.8 million tickets were sold for Quantum of Solace over the opening weekend, very impressive to say the least.
The worldwide total for the film now stands at $322 million.
Coming in second was Madagascar Escape 2 Africa which took in $36.1 million.
