London (ChatterShmatter) – Former Culture Club lead singer Boy George is again making headlines for all the wrong reasons.
George O’Dowd, his real name, was found guilty by a jury of false imprisonment of a male escort.
The 47 year old O’Dowd pleaded not guilty to falsely imprisoning Norwegian male escort Audun Carlsen in his London flat in April last year.
The relationship between Carlsen and O’Dowd initiated in January of 2007 when the two had a little party which resulted in a pornographic photo shoot which included the usage of cocaine. O’Dowd later accused of Carlsen of stealing photos from said shoot and invited him back to confront him on it.
Carlsen’s claim was that O’Dowd was bitter about the lack of a relationship between the two and that O’Dowd handcuffed him to a wall and beat him with a chain.
Boy George’s lawyer countered that Carlsen’s injuries were more likely a result of extreme sex including bondage.
The jury delivered it’s verdict after a two week trial in Snaresbrook Crown Court in East London.
In the 1980’s Boy George was a big star with worldwide hits such as “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me” and “Karma Chameleon”.
Since then he has been in the news more for his drug related incidents, most recently was in 2006 when New York police discovered more than 13 bags of cocaine in his apartment.
