If you havent noticed already, im a huge comic book fan. Nerd works too if you want to call it that. A deal took place on comicconnect where people auction off their old comics for others that would like them more. The very first issue with Superman in it went up for auction a little while ago and sold for over 314k dollars.
The 1938 Action Comic Issue 1 went on sale Friday by John Dolmayan, drummer of System of a Down, according to ComicConnect. The issue features Superman lifting a car on the cover and only has about 100 issues known in circulation.
“This is one of the premier books you could collect,” he said in a telephone interview. “It’s considered the Holy Grail of comic books. I talked to my client, and we made the move.”
The interesting part of the deal is the original owner only had to pay 35 cents to buy it brand new. Today comics costs 2 to 3 bucks and who knows if something like this is circulating around today. In a booming economy the issue could have easily sold for 100 grand more.
