Washington (ChatterShmatter) – A new study has revealed that you can greatly reduce your risk of breast cancer by eating mushrooms, and drinking green tea.
Researchers from Australia focused their study on a group of 2,000 Chinese women, and were led by Dr. Min Zhang of the University of Western Australia.
In China, the overall rate of breast cancer was far lower than that of other countries such as the U.S.
The study tried to see why this was the case, by looking at the types of diets women in China followed.
They compared the diets of 1,000 women who had been diagnosed with breast cancer, and 1,000 who had not.
The idea behind it was to see if they were eating something that cut their risk of disease.
What researchers discovered was that eating mushrooms and drinking green tea helped reduce their risk by a wide margin.
Eating just 10 grams of mushrooms daily cut the breast cancer risk more than in half, while drinking green tea reduced it further.
The study has been published in the International Journal of Cancer.
