Washington (ChatterShmatter) – A group of doctors represented by the American Medical Association (AMA) have filed a class action lawsuit against WellPoint Inc., alleging underpayment.
The doctors group is claiming that WellPoint Inc. cost them millions upon millions of dollars for their practices which led to mass underpayment of the doctors for their services.
This was all related to the pricing of out-of-network medical services provided to patients.
According to the lawsuit filed in Los Angeles federal court, WellPoint fixed prices to charge customers more for out-of-network services, but also under-payed doctors.
Price fixing for out-of-network services is becoming something that is truly beginning to plague the health insurance industry.
The doctors appear persistent in their cause, as they believe the collusion cost them millions of dollars.
