Washington (ChatterShmatter) – The popular AstraZeneca drug Crestor not only fights cholesterol, but it fights blood clots as well.
The results of two new studies set to be published in the New England Journal of Medicine and The Lancet have found that the drug gives more benefits to your health than previously thought.
Researchers carried out their work by looking at 18,000 men and women from the JUPITER trial, which was sponsored by drug maker AstraZeneca.
What they found was that not only does the drug help control cholesterol, lowing the risk of heart attack and stroke, but it has another benefit as well.
They discovered that the drug has the ability to reduce the number of blood clots in the veins of patients.
Compared to a placebo, the drug was able to reduce blood clots in the veins by 43%.
