Houston (ChatterShmatter) – A new study released this week has stated that the key to topping breast cancer may actually be vitamin supplements.
The study, which was presented at the American Association for Cancer Research’s meeting in Washington, D.C., focused on whether or not vitamin supplements and calcium supplements could reduce breast cancer risk.
Researchers had two groups for the study, a group of roughly 270 women who had breast cancer, and a group of roughly 450 women who were considered healthy.
Researchers led by Jaime Matta of the Ponce School of Medicine in Puerto Rico compared the two groups and the impact vitamin supplements had on their health.
They found that women who took a multi-vitamin daily reduced their risk of breast cancer by 30%.
Also, it was found that taking calclium supplements led to a 40% reduced risk of breast cancer.
This will likely lead to a renewed focus and push for vitamin supplements as a way to prevent breast cancer and other diseases.
