One television show getting a lot of hype is Sing Off, which had its season two premier last night on NBC. Hosted by former 98 Degrees frontman Nick Lachey, the competition features groups of acappella performers singing off against each other, a real life Glee if you will.
Because no musical accompaniment is permitted, to succeed in this competition one must actually be able to hold a tune in a bucket thus this competition is actually featuring a lot of talented singers. Each group is given the task of taking modern day music and putting their own spin on it, making it unique to them. Judges Shawn Stockman, Nicole Scherzinger and Ben Folds decide which group is the best, with the winner receiving a Sony recording contract and $100,000.
There will be eight episodes of Sing Off, running from December sixth to the 20th and featuring 10 groups of singers.
