Workers have been working around the clock to prepare Qualcomm Stadium for tonight’s Poinsettia Bowl. More than 1.5 million gallons
of flood waters had put the game in serious doubt, but it appears ready to go and will indeed host the much anticipated match up between San Diego State and Navy.
Going into the game, Navy appear to be the team to beat, coming off of a drubbing of Army. If you ask Poinsettia Bowl executive director Bruce Binkowski, he will tell you that the fact that the game will be played tonight is a miracle. “The field looks beautiful,” Binkowski said Thursday morning. “All the water is off. They’ve actually started to paint the sponsor logo at midfield. That tells you how things are progressing. They’re painting the field markings now. All the water is out. It’s a miracle.”
