A major issue that is causing controversy across the United States concerns a large amount of unclaimed money earmarked for veterans. According to the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, the money which is used to pay out life-insurance policy payouts or dividend checks has not been claimed, thus they will be holding onto it for now.
In many cases, residents who may qualify for payouts do not even realize that they are eligible to receive them, thus certain states are mulling over ways to make the process automatic instead of Americans needing to claim their payouts. Nevada for example, notified nearly 100 people this past year of more than 4.5 million dollars owed to them.
