Adam Vinatieri is used to kicking winning field goals but his 50 yard boot with under a minute to play in last night’s game against the Jets was still not enough. When he nailed the long FG to give the Colts a 16-14 lead, everybody thought that once again the Jets had fallen short and Manning had once again beaten a Rex Ryan defense.
The Jets had other ideas however and a supremely timely kick off return set the Jets up in prime position and the only job for quarterback Mark Sanchez was to not screw things up. He played Colt killer last night, and kicker Nick Folk booted the Jets into a showdown with New England next weekend. “Anytime Adam is kicking you feel you have a great chance of winning,” said Colts running back Joseph Addai. “We felt good, that was a boost of energy we needed. But they had enough time on the clock to get some points. They did a great job of putting up points and getting the win.
