It is generally frowned upon to remove your pants in public but once a year it is actually the hip thing to do. The no pants subway ride held in New York for the last 10 years went off without a hitch yesterday, despite frigid temperatures.
People had to register for the event, and at 3:00 PM yesterday they borded trains at one of six subway stops and engaged in normal passenger activity such as reading a book or magazine. When instructed, participants stood and removed their pants, subsequently exiting their trains and hanging out on the platform to the horror of fellow passengers. “If anyone asks you why you?ve removed your pants, tell them that they were ‘getting uncomfortable’” instructions to emailed participants read.
