Day one of the special Jeopardy tournament featuring humans vs. an IBM computer named Watson went off without a hitch and the artificial intelligence of the computer has left player Ken Jennings in its dust. Watson is tied for first with 5,000 dollars with Brad Rutter leaving Ken in a distant third with only 2,000 dollars.
When Watson began stringing together a series of correct answers right off the bat I found myself wondering if Ken or Brad were even going to be able to get a word in but as the game progressed, Watson started taking longer to formulate answers and even messed up on a few. Tonight we will be treated to Double Jeopardy, in which all the questions have a dollar worth two times the amount of money, a chance for Ken to catch up.
