Beatle Paul McCartney has been honored by Yale University who have awarded him with an honorary Doctor of Music degree.
The presentation took place yesterday at Yale University in New Haven, but Sir Paul did not speak to the crowd during the cerimony.
As McCartney approached the stage to accept his degree, a band played the Beatle classic “Hey, Jude”
Poet John Lawrence Ashbery, astronomer Martin Rees, architect Cesar Pelli and former U.S. Trade Representative Carla Hills were the names of other famous people who received fake degrees from the university.
“Your songs awakened a generation, giving a fresh sound to rock, roll, rhythm and blues,” university President Richard Levin told McCartney upon giving him his degree. “Here, there and everywhere, you have pushed the boundaries of the familiar to create new classics,” he added.
