Washington (ChatterShmatter) – The social networking site Twitter, which allows users to update followers of various events has received quite a bit of attention in the last couple of days although for all the wrong reasons.
A few days ago a phishing scam was carried out on the site, and today the news continues this time with hackers finding ways into the Twitter accounts of 33 celebrities.
The hackers then proceeded to send out updates purported to be from the account owner such as messages about free gas from President-elect Barack Obama, and messages about various body parts believed to be from Britney Spears.
Twitter has responded to the attack by stating that the hackers were able to gain access to the accounts by using internal support tools to reset the email address’ linked to the user accounts thereby allowing them access.
All reports state that all is back to normal for Twitter followers.
