Washington (ChatterShmatter) – It was a very scary day for astronauts aboard the space shuttle Discovery as well as the International Space Station as they worked to barly avoid debris coming at them up in space.
The space debris was apparently heading right for the space shuttle Discovery as well as the International Space Station.
The team had to work to maneuver themselves and get into a position where they would be able to avoid the oncoming debris.
NASA officials reportedly stated that if they stayed in the spot they were in, the debris may have hit during the spacewalk on Monday.
This is not the first time that space junk has threatened the International Space Station.
Astronauts moved the craft around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday to get in a position to avoid the junk.
The space debris is said to be a piece of an old Chinese satellite.
As a matter of fact, this is the third time in under 7 days that this sort of thing has happened.
The space shuttle Discovery is currently at the International Space Station as part of a 14-day mission.
