Taylor Swift was no match for British sensation Susan Boyle who knocked the country singer off the top of the US Billboard 200 this week.
“The Gift” sold more than 318,000 copies in the United States in the first week of release, and now sits on top of the US as well as UK charts.
Taylor Swift’s “Speak Now” was pushed to number 2 by Boyle, who is the first female artist to hold the top spot on both charts consecutively.
Expectations for her second album are not as high as they were for her first, which sold more than 10 million copies last year.
“I’m thrilled for Susan, she has once again defied the odds. She is my superwoman,” Simon Cowell said in a statement.
